Atlantic Solutions Weekend of Fun in the Sun

atlantic-solutions-south-plainfield-nj-1In South Plainfield, New Jersey at Atlantic Solutions, we believe in providing unique opportunities for our employees to develop themselves personally and professionally — all while rewarding key players on the team. One way that we do so is by traveling. It has become a tradition that our President, DK, invites some the top people (based on performance, not tenure) for a trip to Miami every year! Late winter in New Jersey seemed like a perfect time to head to South Beach…and it did not let them down!

“I love hosting events like this,” said DK. “It’s great to be able to reward and motivate my team and show them what success can look like if they work hard and get the job done. Watching my guys enjoy themselves and truly having a good time is the best part.”

This year, Hassan was invited from Atlantic Solutions, and he, DK, Brian, as well as a few others from around the country landed in Miami on a Thursday. That night they met up in Hollywood, FL with colleagues from the area before settling into their hotel. On Friday they were able to spend the day with one of DK’s entrepreneurial mentors Julie, a leader in the industry. It was exciting for them to not only learn from her but also to see how a different marketing campaign operates. That night, DK and crew went out for dinner at P.F. Changs and explored South Beach.

What’s a trip to Miami without spending some time at the beach? So that’s exactly what they did on Saturday! Everyone met up for brunch on South Beach and spent the day playing volleyball. While they were hanging out on the beach they noticed a game of “foot volley” going on right next to them (it’s like soccer but it is played volleyball style using feet and head.) Being a former soccer player, DK noticed a familiar face – a soccer legend – a superstar who played in Italy named Christian Vieri! He was extremely laid back and friendly, they even got to take pictures with him! Fun fact; apparently lots of soccer superstars prefer to retire in the U.S. because they’re not as recognizable by fans here as they are in Europe.

After a long day of sun and fun, they headed back to the hotel and got cleaned up for dinner (at a nice tapas place in South Beach) and one more night out in Miami!

“The entire trip was incredible, but what really sunk in for me was the fact that there was nothing extraordinary about the successful people that I had a chance to meet with and learn from. They simply had a great attitude and worked extremely hard. I feel, now more than ever, that success is truly within my reach and it doesn’t have to take me as long as I initially thought to get there,” explained Hassan.

Two Quotes We Love That Will Catapult Your Career

16300255_693175424176003_5333113245236163095_oAtlantic Solutions (South Plainfield, NJ) shares two of our favorite quotes that are packed with the wisdom necessary to succeed in any career.

Becoming successful in business is hard! If it were easy, everyone would be successful. Perhaps that’s why we love it so much. It brings out our most competitive spirits, pushing us to be our best. Thankfully, we’ve got great mentors and role models who are chock full of success tips. Let’s take a look at two quotes that anyone can learn a lot from…

“Take care of your character above all other things and your reputation will take care of itself.” –Lolly Daskal

At Atlantic Solutions, we believe that integrity is black and white. Having good character is about doing the right thing. It’s about being transparent and honest with people. It’s about acting ethically whether or not there will be consequences. It’s about behaving honorably even if know one will know that you did.

Many people worry about their reputations, but reputation is really just the surface-level representation of a person or company’s perceived character. Instead of worrying about what others think about you, worry about being a good person and always doing what’s right (especially when it’s the hardest). As Daskal wisely notes, in doing so, your reputation will take care of itself.

“Energy and persistence conquer all things.” – Benjamin Franklin

Mister Franklin was a key player in American history and an incredible trove of wisdom, and this quote is a great embodiment of that. In any worthwhile endeavor, the road to success is filled with one speed bump and road block after another. Many people fail to achieve their goals because they become demoralized when they realize how hard the journey is. The vibrant energy with which they started their undertaking starts to wane. Listless and discouraged, they stop pushing.

The secret to ‘conquering,’ however, is persistence. Everyone knows this in theory, but not many people realize what persistence really looks like. Often, it means doing the very last thing in the world that you feel like doing. It means pushing yourself harder than you even knew you could. It often means sacrifices, hard work, and long hours. It means pulling yourself together even when you’re sad, frustrated, or tired. Persistence means staying the course. Those who are energetically persistent are sure to see their efforts pay off.

Successful business professionals have achieved some level of mastery over both integrity and persistence. These are mentalities that we strive to impart (on a daily basis!) to everyone who works at Atlantic Solutions.

Personal Development at Its Finest at Atlantic Solutions

At Atlantic Solutions in South Plainfield, New Jersey, providing their employees with effective coaching and training has been a huge part of their continued success. This training does not end with a new hire being taught the ins and outs of their job duties. Quite the opposite actually, that’s only where it begins! You see, the President of the company believes in helping his team become well-rounded professionals in business and life. This approach has proven to be successful because the company continues to exceed their client’s goals and grow in an extremely competitive market.

For example, Francis DeLeo has only been a part of the Atlantic Solutions team for a few months, yet he has already seen some big changes in himself! Francis explained that his new position has really helped him get out of his comfort zone! Being in a role where he is the “face” of a large company and interacting with customers has also helped him find ways to relate to all different types of people. This is allowing him to create more personal and lasting relationships in his personal life as well.

“Most importantly this job has given me more confidence and taught me to always stay positive,” Francis added.

Coming into this position as an entry level professional with little to no experience, people like Francis rely on the expert training that is provided to ensure that they will be successful with their new career endeavors.

“The most important professional skill I’ve learned so far is how to maintain a student mentality, no matter what position you are in. It’s important to continue to learn because if you stop learning you stop improving yourself, explained Francis.”

He went on to talk about how he’s even been able to help others in the office by sharing his experience with them. The idea is to be able to teach them from the mistakes he has already made, with the hope that they will be able to avoid them. Clearly, the team comradery is in full swing at Atlantic Solutions. They pride themselves on helping each other reach their goals and as you can see, from someone as new as Francis, this corporate value is already being embraced.

The President of Atlantic Solution, Self-Professed ‘Foodie’ Talks About Food!

The Atlantic Solutions organization is not shy about the fact that we love food. Really, we love it. We just love it. The person who loves it the most? Our esteemed leader, the president of our firm, DK.

We stole a few minutes from his busy schedule to ask him some very pressing questions about his passion for food. Enjoy…

On the thing we’d be most surprised to learn about him.

Before we realized that this interview would be all about food, we actually learned something truly hilarious about this entrepreneur. “I don’t like touching food with my hands,” he confessed. Say what? Don’t worry, we followed up to get the details on this. DK can’t tolerate the feeling of greasy fingers — so much so that he uses excessive amounts of napkins to prevent the travesty. The Atlantic Solutions team enjoys a good laugh on a weekly basis when their president wraps his chicken wings, pizza, burger, or sandwich in a napkin. “Every so often I’ll grab a french fry if I’m in a rush, but then I’ll quickly go wash my hands” he shared.

On the food he can’t stand.

Our original question was as to whether there was a food that he couldn’t be paid to eat; but, we quickly found out that DK is a major foodie, and there was really no such thing. We did discover, however, that the ‘corner’ Chinese restaurant would be his least desired form of cuisine. He told us, “If I eat at a Chinese restaurant it needs to be authentic!” He continued, “I love food from all different cultures. I’m in Rhode Island visiting our branch office right now and I always look forward to the chicken at the local Jamaican restaurant here.”

We also learned that DK lives for sushi. In fact, it’s a Friday night tradition in his household. His favorite is the salmon avocado roll. #getinmybelly

On the weirdest thing he’s ever eaten.

Upon discovering that few things would perturb the palate of this food lover, we had to ask this question. Fair warning, if you’re a vegetarian, you might want to skip this question! DK shared, “Iguana is a delicacy in Honduras, where I grew up.” “I’ve also eaten ocean turtles… so tasty,” he added. He’s reportedly yet to find these delicacies in South Plainfield, NJ, but he’s discovered them in Miami and New Orleans. We ended this mouth-watering conversation by hearing about an interesting appetizer that DK has yet to forget: rattle snake served in tartar sauce, which he tried at a restaurant in Arizona. “It’s like popcorn chicken, I lovvvvveedddd it,” he raved! #nomnom

Not to worry, our interview didn’t stop there. You’ll have to stay tuned to hear what we talked about next! Keep in touch with Atlantic Solutions by following us on LinkedIn.

The competitive spirit is alive and well at Atlantic Solutions in South Plainfield, NJ. With so many sports fans and former athletes on the team, it’s no wonder that a little smack talking comes so naturally to us. We asked one of the key trainers on the team, Hassan Wehbeh, a few questions about his love for sports. He shared with us that he does not follow football, but he loves him some soccer! In fact, he told us that if he could visit any sports venue across the globe, he would choose El Clasico.

Hassan’s favorite sports memory is the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final in Moscow, Russia, which was contested by Manchester United and Chelsea. Manchester United won the match 6–5 on penalties.

An insider’s view on what it’s like to work at Atlantic Solutions

What’s it like to work at South Plainfield-based firm, Atlantic Solutions? This blog post’s got you covered!

Atlantic-Solutions
Birthday celebrations for Jalil Cruz

Applying for a job with a company that you may or may not have heard of is kind of like going on a blind date. What are the people like? What’s the overall attitude in the company? What will my boss be like? Just a few of the questions that might run through someone’s head going into a new job. So we spoke to a current employee, Milady, of Atlantic Solutions, who has worked with the company for less than a year, to shine some light on the company culture.

Milady’s feedback… enjoy…

Management

The Manager of Atlantic Solutions treats every employee respectfully. No one is looked down upon or treated with favoritism. He has a hands-on management style in the sense that he provides direct coaching with the team daily. It is not uncommon for him to sit down with an employee on an individual basis to assist with their day-to-day tasks. Our favorite tidbit about him: he is sure to make you giggle with his corny jokes.

The Team

Coming to work, having fun, and helping each other reach common goals was the overall tone of this topic. Going into Atlantic Solutions every morning and collaborating with energetic, motivated colleagues makes work fun! There is a common denominator with everyone on the team – they are striving to improve themselves and others each day.

Company Events

Employees are encouraged to participate in events and activities that take place outside of the office to develop a team bond and simply just relax and have fun. One way this is accomplished is by company sponsored philanthropy events. It seems to be among the favorite events that are held because the team is able to have fun, build relationships with each other AND give back to a number of amazing charities. Other activities that topped the list were things such as bowling nights and sand volleyball (it is a fairly competitive bunch of people after all).
