Atlantic Solutions Team Leaders Attend Prestigious “Top Gun” Seminar [PART 3]

Welcome back! To learn more about Atlantic Solutions team leader Hassan Wehbeh’s career-shaping weekend in Los Angeles, California at the Top Gun conference, check out the finale of our interview below:

What was your favorite part of the event?

Definitely meeting all of the “Top Gunners,” and just connecting with them. Top Gun picks the top guys from companies in the United States. Depending on the size of the company, they can pick one, two, or three people. We have a pretty big office, so they picked three from our office: Nick, James, and me. People are chosen according to the quality of their work and the production that they bring.

Can you describe the schedules of the days you were there?

We were treated like rockstars! An entrepreneur named Julie set up everything: breakfast, lunch, dinner, fun, social, bars and nightlife, everything. It was a blast. Everything waQuote3.pngs paid for! On the first day, we had dinner with Julie and all of the other Top Gun people. So we got to hang out with the top crew of the organization and connect with each other. The next day we had a full day, we woke up at 5:00, left the hotel at 5:45 and we got to the client broker’s office at 7 am, where we had breakfast. After that, we headed to the location and they had a set list for us of what we were going to do, who we were going to talk to, and all of the workshops. The client broker’s team spoke on what they think about us. They knew each one of us and our background! They were very knowledgeable about who we were. They would ask what our names were and we’d tell them and they’d say, “Oh you’re awesome for all these reasons.” They were open to hearing what we think about them, and how we think they can get better because at the end of the day their system is based on us. The more we grow, the faster they grow.

We sat with our client broker’s CEO, I finally got to meet him! He’s a legend in our office, everyone talks about him. After that, we went to dinner and then we went to a rooftop bar. There was even bottle service! Our flight wasn’t until the evening on Saturday so they set up a full day for us. We went to the beach and rode bikes on the boardwalk and then we went on a tour of all of the celebrities’ houses. After that, we had all you can eat sushi which put us in a food coma. Then we went back to the hotel and got ready to head back.

In case you missed it, we’ve been chatting with one of the Atlantic Solutions team leaders who got to attend the exclusive three-day Top Gun retreat. Read more of our interview with Hassan Wehbeh below:

Quote2What kind of jobs did the other attendees have?

All of them work in some kind of leadership position. There were about 500 to 600 people that were considered, but only a few got selected. Those people have proven that they’re top notch at their jobs, above all of the other people. The people selected had all kinds of responsibilities. It’s pretty fascinating what they’ve achieved. Being picked isn’t easy. Every person there had a purpose for wanting to be at Top Gun, they wanted that one step forward. Nothing happens in our business by accident, when we set a goal, we act on it and we reach it. You don’t just lay back and wish for the goal to move a step closer.

What were some common qualities that you noticed among the people selected?

They were all friendly and willing to connect. We were all mostly trained in sales, which has a bad reputation. People don’t want to do sales. But our job is to make the sales process simple and easy to implement. This is something that unites us as leaders.

Who did you receive the one-on-one coaching from?

I scheduled a one-on-one with every single one of the coaches! There was one CEO of a big company that I didn’t get to meet with, but that’s the only one I didn’t have a one-on-one with. We had a group meeting with him, but I basically took control of the conversation and asked all of the questions, it was like me and him back and forth.

What were the workshops like?

They coach you as if you are about to manage a new office. They make sure that you’re well equipped to do that, even though you’re not there yet. You’ve already achieved the first step by reaching your position. They teach you to achieve even more.

The President of Atlantic Solutions Shares Some of his Keys to Success and Thoughts on Failure

The president here at Atlantic Solutions (South Plainfield, NJ) works hard and was not afraid to tell us about it. He is keen on organization, work ethic, attitude, and family – all things that ensure his success. We were lucky to interview DK and hear some of his insight on success, failure, and all of the tools he uses to keep the ball rolling!Screen Shot 2017-05-31 at 1.54.13 PM

What does “success” mean to you?

“It means that everybody around me is taken care of and that they are doing well. We are planning on opening a new Atlantic Solutions location on June 19th and it is very important to me that the person that will be running that location will be trained properly and suited with the tools to operate efficiently. In order for me to be successful, I need to help others at the company achieve their goals, or else I’m not doing my job and I’m not succeeding. In terms of personal success, I also need everybody around me to be doing well. My family staying happy, healthy, and taken care of is the most important thing to me.”

Are there any habits that you have that help keep you on track for success?

Screen Shot 2017-05-31 at 1.56.25 PM“Whether it’s at home, in the airport, or in a hotel room – I’m always reading. Audio books are also helpful when I’m on the road. I’m always trying to grow and learn because it is imperative to stay sharp and to stay hungry. I also plan and organize everything I need to do from the beginning of every week starting on Sunday. ‘If you fail to plan you plan to fail’ is a motto that I live by.”

How do you look at failure?

“It’s all about how you perceive failure. Sure, you can stay deflated and down once you fail. But it’s really an opportunity to get back to the drawing board and improve for next time. It’s really not about the failure itself – it’s about what you do differently afterward that will determine if you succeed in life or not. Fall down nine times; get up ten!”

Why do you think some people fail and never get back up that tenth time?

“I think it mostly has to do with attitude. If you have a bad attitude about failure and do not see it is a necessary learning experience then you will not make it very far. It’s certainly a mindset that I like to promote here at Atlantic Solutions.”

Atlantic Solutions Team Leaders Attend Prestigious “Top Gun” Seminar [PART 1]

Read about three Atlantic Solutions team leaders’ business trip to California.

Whether you’ve heard of the US Navy’s Top Gun flight school or simply seen the classic 1986 film, you get the idea: an intensive training program for only the best fighter pilots in the Navy. Top Gun has the same idea: rigorous coaching to refine and produce the most elite sales personnel in the industry. Each year, the company hosts an exclusive three-day sales retreat in Los Angeles, California for 35 of the top sellers from businesses across the country.

Out of 600 potential candidates this year, three of our team leaders here at Atlantic Solutions were selected for a weekend of wining, dining, networking, and learning from some of the leading businesspeople in his field. We caught up with one of the lucky individuals, Hassan Wehbeh, to get a look inside the career-shaping event:

Why do you think you were picked?

My presence in the office and the example of leadership that I set. I’m always trying to bring something new to the table. Our business requires us to be creative because we have a system and we work that system. That’s the foundation: how you make that system work, how you can use your personality differently in the system. You have to keep becoming better every day, and I think that’s something that I was picked for because I focus on team production and numbers a lot. I’m a numbers guy. I was in finance and investment before I jumped into this. It’s about how you can actually make the numbers work for you because numbers explain everything. So being able to recognize numbers and work off of numbers is key for production. I do that every day, and I show other people how to do it.

What are your responsibilities as a team leader?

As a team leader, you have to always set the example. This job relies a lot on your mentality, ambitions, goals. Our goal is to develop managers who have an entrepreneurial mindset. “Entrepreneur” sounds very broad, but it’s really the attitude that allows you to be able to take on multiple challenges. My responsibility is basically to be the front and the back of the team. I have to drive production as an entrepreneur, I have to drive the money factor behind the business and always be productive. Another responsibility is that I have to push my Quote1peers to become better every day. Me being picked for Top Gun, or whoever is picked for Top Gun has something to do with how we work as a team, that’s our culture. We would not become anything if we couldn’t rely on our team. It’s my responsibility to hold my team accountable for whatever they want to achieve. Their goals are my goals. I have to ensure that they actually reach their goals. I have to be able to maintain personal and professional responsibilities. I have to make sure that my team members also realize and act upon their responsibilities, instead of laying back and waiting for someone else to complete that responsibility. We feed off of what people achieve.

Springtime Heating Up at Atlantic Solutions

This Week

Our president has selected three top performers at Atlantic Solutions to accompany him to an invite-only business seminar in Los Angeles. Hassan Wehbeh, Nick Sullivan, and James Schnell will fly with DK to the West Coast on Thursday, May 18th, to take part in networking dinners, workshops, and one-on-one coaching from a variety of successful businesspeople. They will be wined and dined and given the well-deserved royal treatment! If the event is anything like last year’s, this group will come back from their long weekend bursting with knowledge and fresh motivation. We can’t wait to hear about their biggest takeaways.

One of our assistant managers, Tashaun Thomas, has completed his management training at Atlantic Solutions and is currently preparing to manage a new office in June! This is a huge step in his career, and we are thrilled to see his hard work paying off.

The Growth Mindset at Atlantic Solutions

Not only did James share his professional growth, but also how he has grown as an individual;

“In my time with the company, I have learned many things about myself. If I had to narrow it down to the biggest personal lesson, I would have to say that it is taking initiative. I have never been one to step up and take the lead. I have always been laid back and very shy, but this position has taught me that in life, taking initiative is what gets you to where you want to be. It is like a domino effect. People will do what others do, especially if they are confidently stepping up to do the right thing and they will respect you for it.”

From South Plainfield to South Beach, He’s Making Atlantic Solutions Proud!

In just three short months, Brian Baccarella has made a lasting impact on the leadership team at our company and we couldn’t be more proud.

Brian was recently invited by our president, DK, to an exclusive event in South Beach, Miami. In addition to being able to explore South Beach and enjoy the Miami nightlife, he also spent time with a top industry consultant. His business get-away was the true definition of ‘work hard, play hard.’ At Atlantic Solutions we believe in rewarding top performers, regardless of their tenure with our firm, and Brian is a great example of this! After only a few weeks on the job, he earned a promotion and has since been trained in leadership development and is taking on new responsibilities within the company.

One of the keys to our success lies in the internal training and development that we provide to our employees. What sets us apart is the fact that we cross train specific job skills with personal development so our people are prepared for success in every facet.

“For me, personally, the most important professional skill I have learned is how to take control of your mind and emotions. It can be the most difficult thing to do when things aren’t going your way, and some days it will be a constant battle but it’s one of the few things you actually can control in life,” said Brian.

Brian explained to us how focusing on the things that are going wrong will negatively affect your body’s own biochemistry, whereas focusing on the opportunities hidden underneath the muck will do the exact opposite. The good news is that you get to choose! The bad news is that it isn’t always going to be easy, and you’ll have days when you fail regardless. “But most people will let the bad news stop them and you can choose to not be like most people,” added Brian.

Brian also shared some of the things that he has learned in his time so far with Atlantic Solutions that will add value to his personal life:

Being a team player and developing others is crucial in business (and life.) When you teach others, they teach you. You can’t do anything alone, and even if you could, why would you want to? I’ve also come to realize that you cannot control the outcome of a day. You can only control the steps you take to achieve the outcome. Focus on the right steps and your desired outcome will usually follow.”

Personal Development at Its Finest at Atlantic Solutions

At Atlantic Solutions in South Plainfield, New Jersey, providing their employees with effective coaching and training has been a huge part of their continued success. This training does not end with a new hire being taught the ins and outs of their job duties. Quite the opposite actually, that’s only where it begins! You see, the President of the company believes in helping his team become well-rounded professionals in business and life. This approach has proven to be successful because the company continues to exceed their client’s goals and grow in an extremely competitive market.

For example, Francis DeLeo has only been a part of the Atlantic Solutions team for a few months, yet he has already seen some big changes in himself! Francis explained that his new position has really helped him get out of his comfort zone! Being in a role where he is the “face” of a large company and interacting with customers has also helped him find ways to relate to all different types of people. This is allowing him to create more personal and lasting relationships in his personal life as well.

“Most importantly this job has given me more confidence and taught me to always stay positive,” Francis added.

Coming into this position as an entry level professional with little to no experience, people like Francis rely on the expert training that is provided to ensure that they will be successful with their new career endeavors.

“The most important professional skill I’ve learned so far is how to maintain a student mentality, no matter what position you are in. It’s important to continue to learn because if you stop learning you stop improving yourself, explained Francis.”

He went on to talk about how he’s even been able to help others in the office by sharing his experience with them. The idea is to be able to teach them from the mistakes he has already made, with the hope that they will be able to avoid them. Clearly, the team comradery is in full swing at Atlantic Solutions. They pride themselves on helping each other reach their goals and as you can see, from someone as new as Francis, this corporate value is already being embraced.

Recently Graduated and Already Standing Out at Atlantic Solutions

The South Plainfield, New Jersey team at Atlantic Solutions will only be as successful as the people who make up that team. Why? Because they grow together. As the company continues to deliver high results for clients, more leadership within the company is needed to keep up with the growth. Lately, there has been a standout member of this leadership team that we couldn’t help but learn more about!

Before starting with Atlantic Solutions, Hassan Wehbeh attended Brooklyn College and graduated with a degree in Finance and Investment in 2016. There he stayed insanely busy. First, he joined the Varsity Soccer team, for two principle reasons — to learn more English, and play the game that he loves. During his sbrooklyn_college_logo-svgecond year, he found opportunities within the business school to get more involved, learn more about the stock market and get connected on and off campus. He actually started a club called BC StockTrading Club. Within the club, he hosted speakers from big investment banks like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Deutsche Bank — as well as Deloitte, KPMG, Ernst and Young. And if that wasn’t enough, he decided he wanted to become the president of the Investment Club… so he did. As the savvy business man that Hassan was becoming, he even helped create joint events with the marketing club to raise more awareness for both of his clubs.

You’d think he had his hands full, right? Well, apparently not enough becaatlantic-solutions-hassan-wehbehuse he added four internships into his experience while at Brooklyn College. They included a non-profit called DonorsChoose.org (which is the first non-profit to ever make on the fortune magazine), a wealth management firm called E. J. Sterling on Wall Street, ABC Global Systems doing credit risk, and an on-campus program called “The Liebowitz Entrepreneur Program,” where he had to create his own business and present it to potential investors. Now, Atlantic Solutions does not require previous experience to join the team, but wow! Talk about a full resume before having any “real world” work history.

Many people worry about “using their college degree”, but this is what Hassan had to say about that, “I studied finance and investment, I am supposed to be sitting in a cubicle at a bank analyzing data right now. NO, that is absolutely not what I wish for myself. I want to be my own boss and mentor atlantic-solutions-hassan-wehbeh2anyone and everyone that wants to become like me. So am I utilizing my degree? Not in the traditional way, but yes I am because I still invest in the stock market and in the future I’ll only utilize it even more.”

Working at Atlantic Solutions was Hassan’s first job after graduating so we wanted to see what his advice would be to someone graduating college this year and looking to start their first job?

“Your first job should be an investment in your future and not someone else’s future. Any college graduate should use their education for themselves, and make themselves successful and richer in knowledge and money. I would never advise a college graduate to use his education to work and make someone else richer and successful, because this is average, and we are all looking to be above average.”

He’s Taking Over! Meet Tim!

Tim-Atlantic-Solutions-AtlanticSolutnsAt Atlantic Solutions we make it a point to give credit where credit is deserved; and lately, Tim Gilbert has everyone’s attention! With the growth opportunities that we offer to people who are motivated to advance their professional careers, this stud is headed on the fast track to management. As our company is in a rapid growth phase, it’s vital to have individuals like Tim continually pushing themselves and others around them to improve.

We had a chance to pick the brain of our president to find out what makes Tim such a valuable asset to the Atlantic Solutions team. Here were his points:

“Tim sets an excellent example to all other employees.” In reference to the campaign management training that we provide, Tim demonstrates what a “job well done” looks like for others to be able to replicate. It’s imperative for new employees to have that to strive for.

“He maximizes his opportunity more than anyone I have ever seen.” Every entry level representative that joins the Atlantic Solutions team has an opportunity to advance within the company based on their own merit. Tim never lets a chance pass him by to learn more, do more and, ultimately, be more!

“He always has a great attitude.” We passionately believe that your attitude will determine the amount of success that you will have, and Tim is proof of that!

Tim believes that part of success with Atlantic Solutions is due to his ability to transfer knowledge. Specifically in regards to the explanation of products and services to his customers. By properly finding a solution that will meet customer’s needs, he is able to reach and exceed our client’s expectations. But where does his personal drive to succeed come from? “My grandfather was an entrepreneur and a salesman, I look up to him in a lot of ways. I want to prove to him that I can run my own business. Also, I want to make enough money to be able to support a family and be financially independent,” explained Tim.
